Walmart to reopen over 100 remodeled stores: What will be different for shoppers
View Date:2025-01-11 06:47:15
Some Walmart shoppers are in for a new experience the next time they have to run to the store.
The company announced Tuesday they are reopening 117 remodeled stores across 30 states on Friday, Nov. 3, marking the largest single-day rollout of re-grand openings in company history, according to a news release.
These stores will feature modernized restrooms, new fixtures and LED lighting, updating flooring throughout the store, more shopping carts and increased check-out options as well as other improvements, the company said.
“We’re investing more than $9 billion over a two-year period to upgrade and modernize more than 1,400 of our stores across the U.S.,” said John Furner, chief executive officer of Walmart U.S., in the news release.
The upgrades are designed to deliver a "more modern shopping experience and improve the lives of our associates and customers from the moment they step into the new space," according to the company.

Additionally, these remodeled stores will include a mother's room, which the company says is a "clean and private" area for nursing mothers, as well as a dollar section located near store entrances featuring "seasonally relevant products."
Walmart said many of their pharmacies have been moved to the front of their stores for easier access, and the pharmacies have expanded to allow for new private screening rooms for consultations and services.
Grab and go sections have also been added to the remodeled stores for "quick meal and drink options," according to the company.
Walmart plans to continue modernizing its stores across the country in 2024, the company said in the news release.
